Description:The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for
the comprehensive maintenance and repair of our diverse fleet,
which includes both landscaping and heavy excavation equipment.
This role ensures all vehicles and machinery are maintained to the
highest standards of safety and operational efficiency, minimizing
downtime and maximizing productivity. The supervisor will lead a
team of mechanics, manage maintenance schedules, control inventory,
and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.Requirements:
Supervisory Leadership:
- Directly supervise and lead a team of mechanics specializing in
both light and heavy equipment repair.
- Schedule and prioritize work orders, ensuring timely and
efficient completion of maintenance and repairs.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and performance
evaluations to team members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team
environment.Maintenance and Repair Operations:
- Perform and oversee routine preventative maintenance on all
fleet vehicles and equipment, including trucks, trailers, skid
steers, excavators, loaders, and various landscaping tools such as
mowers, trimmers, blowers, aerators, ensuring consistent
operational readiness
- Perform and document regular annual NH inspections, ensuring
compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic,
and engine issues on a wide range of equipment.
- Oversee and perform welding and fabrication repairs as
needed.
- Ensure all repairs meet company standards and comply with
safety regulations.Inventory and Procurement:
- Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of parts, tools, and
supplies, including specialized parts for heavy equipment.
- Source and procure parts and supplies, negotiating with vendors
to obtain competitive pricing and ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain an efficient inventory management system.
- Manage shop budget.Record Keeping and Compliance:
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance and
repair activities, including work orders, parts inventory, and
maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations,
including OSHA, DOT, and EPA standards.
- Manage vehicle and equipment documentation, including
registrations, inspections, and maintenance logs.
- Maintain records within company software.Safety Management:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures
within the maintenance shop and during field repairs.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and training sessions for
mechanics.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to meet safety
standards.Performance Measurements
- Variance between actual maintenance expenses and budgeted
amounts.
- Average time taken to complete repairs
- Percentage of time equipment is operational and available for
use
- percentage of vehicle DOT roadside inspections that passSkills
and Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and
repair, with a strong emphasis on heavy equipment.
- Proven supervisory and leadership experience.
- Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and repair,
including hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and electrical
systems.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in welding and fabrication.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and budget
control.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and
schematics.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
- ASE certifications, particularly in heavy equipment, are highly
desirable.
- Knowledge of DOT and EPA regulations. Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, stand for extended periods, and
perform repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions, including
heat, cold, and rain.Availability Requirements
- Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM weekends and extended hours as
